About this game

Auction Batak: bid your tricks, name trumps and keep your word, or sink.

From a corner card club to a ferry saloon and an old mansion, you play four-handed Auction Batak at three tables. Every hand you bid how many tricks you will take; the highest bidder names trumps and leads. Every trick is a point: keep your word and you score all your tricks, miss it and you sink, losing the bid. Wins open new tables, and at the Daily Table everyone plays the same four hands that day.

How to play

  1. Everyone gets 13 cards. On your turn bid how many tricks you will take (at least 4, more than the last bid) or pass; once you pass you say nothing more that hand.
  2. The highest bidder names trumps and leads. If nobody bids, the first speaker plays a contract of 4.
  3. Follow the suit led and beat the highest card on the table if you can; out of that suit, play a trump. Trumps cannot be led until one has been played.
  4. Every trick is a point. Make the contract and you score your tricks; miss it and you lose the bid. Others score their tricks; no trick at all loses the bid too. The best total after four hands wins.

Controls

  • Tap or click a card: play it (only the glowing ones may be played)
  • Bid buttons: a number or Pass; trump buttons: the trump suit (arrows to move, Enter to choose)
  • Keyboard: 1-9, or arrows to choose and Enter to play
  • Esc or P: pause

Tips

  • Bid by counting your aces, guarded kings and long trump suit; bidding more sinks you.
  • If someone else won the auction, take one trick first, then try to sink them: a sunk contract costs them the whole bid.
  • When the rules make you beat the table or trump, only the cards you may play glow.

Questions and answers

Is it free?

Yes, you can play it for free. There are no ads inside the game.

Do the opponents cheat?

No. The opponents only see their own hands and the cards on the table. At the hard table they count the cards played, remember who ran out of which suit and try out the ways the unseen cards could lie.

What does the daily challenge count?

The hands that day in which you won the auction and made your contract, at any table. The Daily Table counts only the first time you play it that day; replays are for fun.
