About this game

Go down an old han floor by floor: when you step, everyone steps, and red tiles mark the next blow.

In Caravanserai Crawl you are the caravan's apprentice going down the fifty floors of an old caravanserai; it is turn-based, and when you step, strike or wait, everyone in the han takes a turn too. Rats, scorpions, snakes, archers and brutes show where they will strike one turn ahead with red tiles: step out of them or strike first, because stepping into a creature is how you hit it. Iron gates that need a key, traps that keep a beat, slippery ice and a dark passage lit only by your lantern lie on the way; a boss bars every tenth floor, and until the Rat King falls you have a spare life. The treasure waits at the bottom, the silver you bring back buys lasting upgrades at the camp, and today's floors are the same for everyone.

How to play

  1. Swipe or tap a tile to step that way. Stepping into a creature strikes it.
  2. When you step, everyone steps. Red tiles are struck on the next step: step aside or strike first.
  3. The Wait button keeps you in place: let them come to you and strike first. Scorpions and brutes rest after striking.
  4. Take the stairs to the next floor. A key opens the iron gate; floors and gems earn silver for the camp.

Controls

  • Swipe or tap a tile: step or strike
  • Tap yourself or the Wait button: wait a turn
  • Keyboard: arrows or WASD step, Space or full stop waits
  • Esc or P: pause

Tips

  • When a rat is two tiles away, wait: it comes next to you to leap, and the first strike is yours.
  • Do not stand in an archer's row or column; next to it, its bow is useless.
  • A brute smashes all eight tiles around it: step two away, then come back and strike once it has swung.

Questions and answers

Is it free?

Yes, you can play it for free. There are no ads inside the game.

Does everyone go down the same floors?

Yes. The floors are chosen every day from the server's date, so everyone meets the same rooms and creatures that day. Try as often as you like; your deepest descent counts.

Do the camp upgrades last?

Yes. Every floor you reach and every gem you pick up brings a silver coin. The Heart, Sherbet, Evil Eye and Scimitar you buy with it count in every descent and stay in your save.
