About this game

Shoot, then keep goal, in turns; every goal and save grows the streak, three mistakes end the run.

A 100-kick shootout tournament: you shoot first, then you go in goal, until your three lives are gone or you lift the trophy after the 100th kick. Swipe the ball at the goal; a fast swipe is a hard shot but a ball struck too hard can fly over the bar, a curved swipe bends it, and the wind pushes it aside. In goal, tap where the ball is going; dive too early and the kicker sees you and goes the other way, too late and you never get there. On the way from the neighbourhood pitch to the night final, opposing keepers learn your favourite corner, opposing kickers curl and fake, and in the final you get less time for your shot; every goal and save adds a point to your streak, and the opponents are the same for everyone that day.

How to play

  1. When it is your shot, swipe the ball at the goal: the ball goes where your finger goes.
  2. A fast swipe is a hard shot; strike it too hard and the ball rises, so take care with the top corners.
  3. In goal, tap where the ball is going; dive long before the kick and the kicker goes the other way.
  4. Every goal and every save grows the streak by one; each missed or saved shot and each goal against costs a life, and three lives end the streak. Last all 100 kicks and you lift the trophy.

Controls

  • Swipe: shoot (speed is power, a curve is spin)
  • Tap or click: dive to that spot when you are in goal
  • Keyboard: arrows aim, hold Space and let go; in goal arrows and Q / E / Z / C
  • Esc or P: pause

Tips

  • The low corners are the safest: leave a little room from the post, strike hard but not high.
  • Watch the flag: the wind pushes the ball aside, more on slow shots.
  • In goal, watch the kicker's run-up: his hips and eyes give the corner away, but from the semi-final on he sometimes fakes it; in the late rounds your saves come from reading that tell.

Questions and answers

Are there real teams?

No. The teams, kits and players are made up; no real club, league or player appears.

Does everyone face the same opponents?

Yes. The kickers' shots, the wind and the keepers' guesses are set every day from the server's date; the keepers only learn from your own shots. Try as often as you like; your longest streak counts.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It is made for one finger in portrait mode: swipe to shoot, tap to save. On a computer the mouse or the keyboard is all you need.
