About this game
Drift a yellow taxi through the square's gold bends, build the chain and straighten up to bank it.
In Taxi Drift a yellow taxi drives itself round a circuit about a city square lined with plane trees; you only hold the wheel. Hold the left or right half of the screen and the taxi turns that way while its rear slides out. Sliding through the gold-painted bends builds up points, and the longer the slide lasts the higher the multiplier climbs, up to x5; let go and straighten up and the points are banked times the multiplier. Hitting a wall or knocking over a cone loses that slide's points; a round lasts 60 seconds, the circuit is the same for everyone each day, and your best round drives beside you as a ghost taxi on this device.

How to play
- The taxi drives itself. Hold the left half of the screen to turn left, the right half to turn right.
- Hold both halves at once to brake: the rear slides and the taxi slows down.
- Keep turning through the gold bends and slide: the points and the multiplier build up over the taxi.
- Let go and straighten up: the points are banked times the multiplier. After 60 seconds the round is over; tap once to play again.
Controls
- Hold the left half or ← / A: turn left
- Hold the right half or → / D: turn right
- Both halves or ↓ / S: brake
- Space: start and play again; Esc or P: pause
Tips
- Take a bend with short presses rather than one long hold: the slide lasts but the taxi does not swing into the wall.
- A moment of driving straight does not break the chain; you can slide gently left and right on a straight to keep the multiplier.
- Cones stand on the inside of a bend and at its exit; the middle of the road is always open.
Questions and answers
Is the circuit the same for everyone?
Yes. The shape of the circuit, the gold bends and the cones are decided every day from the server's date, so everybody drives the same square that day. Try as often as you like; your best round counts.
What is the ghost taxi?
Your best round on the day's circuit drives beside you as a see-through taxi in your next rounds. It is kept on this device only; when the circuit changes the next day it no longer shows, and your first scoring round on the new circuit replaces it.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It is made for one hand in portrait mode: hold the left or right half with your thumb. On a computer the arrow keys are all you need.
