About this game
Read the numbers at an old dig, find the cracked squares and dig up the rest.
At an old dig site at sunset, some squares under the soil are cracked: step on one and the ground caves in. The number on every square you open tells how many of its eight neighbours are cracked; flag the cracks and dig everything else. There are small, medium and large sites, faster digs earn more stars, and coins and pottery shards turn up under empty squares. Every site can be solved by reasoning alone, never by guessing, and today's dig is the same for everyone.

How to play
- Start at the glowing square: the first dig is always safe and opens up an area.
- A number tells how many of its 8 neighbours are cracked.
- Long-press a square you know is cracked, or pick the Flag tool and tap it, to plant a flag.
- Tap a number whose flags are all in place to open all its other neighbours at once. Open every safe square to clear the site.
Controls
- Tap: dig (plants a flag when the Flag tool is selected)
- Long-press or right-click: uses the other tool (plants or pulls a flag while digging)
- Keyboard: arrows select a square, Space uses the selected tool, F or X the other one, H gives a hint
- Esc or P: pause
Tips
- Start with the 1s along an edge: a number with a single hidden neighbour left tells you that square is cracked.
- Read two numbers side by side: what a 1 and a 2 share often gives away the 2's extra crack.
- Stuck? A hint shows a safe square but adds 15 seconds to the clock; dig fast and without hints for three stars.
Questions and answers
Is it free?
Yes, you can play it for free. There are no ads inside the game, and coins are only found by playing.
Do I ever have to guess?
No. Every site is checked by a solver so that, after the safe first dig, it can be solved from the numbers alone.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Your stars, best times, coins, an unfinished site and your settings are saved to the cloud through the portal, even if you play as a guest.
